Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence gave fans quite a fright after suffering a rough hit from Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair on Sunday.
Lawrence showed signs of a traumatic brain injury immediately following the hit, clenching his fists in what is known as a fencing response. He was carted off the field, and the team quickly diagnosed him with a concussion.
However, according to Mark Long of the Associated Press, Lawrence left EverBank Stadium with his wife by his side and a smile on his face.
On Sunday night, Lawrence took to social media to share an update. “Thank you to everyone who has reached out and been praying for me. I’m home and feeling better. Means a lot, thank you all,” he wrote.
This marks Lawrence’s second diagnosed concussion since entering the NFL and his third dating back to college. He first suffered a concussion during his freshman season at Clemson against Wake Forest in 2018, and another in Week 15 of the 2023 season against the Ravens.
With the Jaguars holding a 2-10 record and little to play for this season, the team might consider shutting down Lawrence for the remainder of the season, even if he is cleared to return.
