Skoda has announced the prices for their new compact SUV, the Kylaq, which is now available for purchase in India. Let’s see how the Kylaq measures up against its rivals in the highly competitive compact SUV segment.
Engine and Performance
The Skoda Kylaq features a 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 999 cc, producing 115 hp and 178 Nm of torque. This makes it one of the more powerful SUVs in its category, second only to the Mahindra XUV 3XO with its 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine. When comparing petrol engines, the Kylaq stands out. Other SUVs like the Venue, Nexon, Sonet, and XUV 3XO also offer diesel engines, while the Brezza and Nexon have CNG options. The Nexon, Sonet, and Venue come with a 7-speed DCT option, whereas the Kylaq has a torque-converter automatic. The Nissan Magnite is unique with its CVT automatic transmission.

The Kylaq is 3995 mm long, similar to other SUVs in its class, but shorter than the XUV 3XO and Magnite. Its wheelbase, second only to the XUV 3XO, should provide ample cabin space. With a boot space of 446 litres, the Kylaq offers the largest storage capacity in its segment, even surpassing its sibling, the Kushaq. However, its ground clearance of 189 mm is slightly less than some competitors that boast over 200 mm.
