Brie Larson has unveiled a dramatic new look on Instagram, just in time for her upcoming performance in the West End drama ‘Elektra’.
The Oscar-winning actress, who is 35, showcased her dedication to her craft by chopping off her long, signature locks for a very short pixie cut with baby bangs and longer sides framing her face. Not only did she cut her hair, but she also switched from her usual golden blonde to a deep brunette.
The transformation comes ahead of her debut on the London stage as the lead in the revival of Sophocles’ classic play, Elektra.
On November 25, Larson posted black-and-white photos of her new hairstyle. In one, she’s beaming with a wide smile; in the other, she’s striking a more serious pose. She captioned the post with “Elektra is here.”
The change is quite surprising, considering Larson shared an Instagram mirror selfie with long blonde hair just a day before. She was also seen with her blonde waves at the Giorgio Armani Ready-to-Wear spring 2025 fashion show in New York City on October 17.
Directed by Tony nominee Daniel Fish and translated by Anne Carson, ‘Elektra’ tells the story of the title character in the days following her father’s assassination, which she plans to avenge with her long-lost brother Orestes.
The Playbill have a pre-run at Theatre Royal Brighton from January 13-18, 2025, before moving to London’s Duke of York’s Theatre for previews starting on January 24, with the official opening night on February 5. The show will run until April 12, 2025.
Brie Larson will be joined on stage by Stockard Channing, Marième Diouf, Greg Hicks, and Patrick Vaill.
